Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Jeannette Hutchings (Reed) who was born in Marshall Michigan on March 08, 1937 and passed away on August 07, 2006 at the age of 69. We will remember her forever.

Mom lived her life for love of friends and family,
Neither asking for nor wanting a return.
Her days became a sunlit homily,
With others' joy her joy and main concern.
When we were ill, she also became sick;
When we were cut, she, too, began to bleed.
Of our oil lamp she was the wick,
Drawing her bright flame from our need.
Some say that such behavior's out of date:
That self-fulfillment is the way to grace.
But Mom, without much choice, then chose her fate,
Finding greater truth in an embrace.
She lives on in the sparkle in our eyes:
Laughing, quiet, gentle, loving, wise

Jeannette worked for Kellogg's for 33 years. She retired in 1993. She loved babies and little kids so she started doing day care shortly after she reitired. She worked in the nursery at St. Phillips for a while. She loved working with the infants!

There is more to my mother than I could ever possibly write. She loved to travel, although did not like to fly. She loved camping.  Her and my dad bought a fifth wheel after mom retired and they put it at Branch County Memorial park in Coldwater, MI. They camped there for many years before finally pulling the trailer out. Although they moved out of the campsite, that was not the end of camping. My parents owned a small cabin on a lake near their home and they went there for the summers. Mom always said she didn't like camping there as well because she could not "people watch". She loved to people watch. She loved getting to know everyone around her.

Mom and dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 2, 2005. My brothers and I gave them a surprise party. They were both in shock I think. Mom and dad both cried. There were over a 100 people at the party.

Mom would help anyone. She gave to charities and helped her grandchildren and children over the years. She had such a big heart and she hated seeing anyone in need for anything.

As I said, there is so much more to my mother than I could ever put down on paper. I will stop here for now.

We are going to miss you so much mom. You are with your grandsons that I know you missed so very much. You are with Uncle Beaver now, Aunt Bev, your parents and so many others. May you have peace and be free now.

When I come to the end of my journey
and I travel my last weary mile,
just forget, if you can, that I ever frowned
and remember only the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken;
remember some good I have done.
Forget that I've stumbled and blundered
and sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought some hard battles
and won, ere the close of the day.
Then forget to grieve for my going;
I would not have you sad for a day,
but in summer just gather some flowers
and remember the place where I lay,
and come in the shade of the evening
when the sun paints the sky in the west.
Stand for a few moments beside me
and remember only my best.
